WBW #28 Assignment--Sparklers!
Ok it’s bubbles time! The direction I headed out on for this one was straight to the heart of the Carneros. But like all great journeys the side trips, unexpected pop-ups and ok let’s do this one, too are inevitable.
First off I will have to do this one in instalments like over the next few day–hope I don’t drive Brenda, over Culinary Fool, or you the WBW #28 cru, to crazy with these...
In the mix for this WBW# 28--here at the Avenue Vine:
1. Chandon Sparkling Wine Brut Classic - California
2. Chandon Sparkling Wine Reserve Brut - California
3. Chandon Sparkling Wine Blanc de Noirs - Carneros
4. Dom Carneros Le Reve '00 - Carneros
5. Dom Carneros Brut '03 - Carneros
6. Gloria Ferrer Royal Cuvee '97- Carneros
Now whether we’ll get to all of these are reviewed is a horse of another vintage?...
Thinking?–4 Brut, 1 Blanc de Noirs, and 1 Blanc de Blancs–4 Carneros ... Do the Brut blind? Well that went out the window last night... Do them all as a single tasting? Still drinking 'er I mean thinking...
Also, right out of the box, I was trying to figure out what my definition difference between “Party Sparklers and Special Sparklers” via this demented mind might be..
WBW #28 PARAMETERS:
1. Bargain sparklers – that if you needed several bottles for a party wouldn’t break your budget but you wouldn’t be embarrassed to serve...
2. Special Sparklers – those bottles that might be a bit higher cost but for a little splurge you think they are worth the price...
3. Duds – you tried a bottle, thought it held promise but when it comes down to it you wouldn't buy it again. Hopefully we won't have many in this category!
DEMENTED MIND CONSIDERATIONS:
Definition(s): a.> Sparklers are a party in a bottle!; b.> And well that just makes Sparklers Special... c.> And always hoping to no-not-never get a “Dud!”
Installment #1:
So right off the bat–first opened--a California Brut, there goes the “All Carneros Idea!” We got home from a tasting and wine buying run down the ole’ Central Valley, Sunday night and had no desire to break out the pots and pans.
Off I go--out to the local Pub for some Fried Fish and Cesar Salad to go; chuck the Chandon Brut Classic in the bucket with some ice; polish up the steams and settle down for Sunday evening movie, sparkler and munch.
Lucky me--I just happened to have a sparkling tasting work sheet near by so this one got noted!

Goodness, Len–look what you’ve started!
