Cork Supply USA Expands Laboratory Team
In an ongoing effort to maintain the highest level of quality assurance and ramp up research programs, Cork Supply USA has increased its quality assurance lab staff by 66 percent. Two new lab technicians, Bruce Goto and Anish Prakash, have joined the existing lab staff under the direction of Dr. Carlos Macku, Cork Supply USA Director of Technical Services.
“Over the years, our quality control lab has been on the cutting edge of technology and second to none in our industry,” said Dr. Carlos Macku. “We have a higher ratio of people devoted to quality control versus production than any other cork supplier in the industry, and that enables us to consistently deliver the high level of service and quality that our clients rely on.”
And the expansion will continue, according to Dr. Macku. €œIn the next few months, CSU plans to hire a quality control supervisor to step up even further the oversight of the entire quality process for our VinOak brand oak products, including customer and sensory services, said Macku.
To house its expanding staff and operations, Cork Supply will soon be moving to new Benicia facilities. The new plant will expand Cork Supply USA current state-of-the-art laboratory to a total size of nearly 2,600 square feet, tripling existing lab space. That investment will not only enable increased quality assurance activities, but also facilitate greater testing, experimentation and archiving of samples.
