National Viticulture Research Conference UC Davis July 9-11

CONTINUES TODAY IN DAVIS
 Some 200 scientists who are interested in grape cultivation, or viticulture, will gather for this intensive three-day national research forum. The conference is open to public and private researchers, postdoctoral researchers, scientific staff and students. Researchers will present recent findings in the areas of grapevine breeding, diseases, evaluation of plant materials, genetics, pests and viticultural practices. The meeting will be held in the Studio Theatre of the Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts, on the campus of UC Davis.

The National Viticulture Research Conference (NVRC) arose out of a desire to establish a national-level forum focused solely on viticulture research. The purpose of the conference is to provide public and private researchers, post-docs, scientific staff and students an opportunity to present their technical work to their colleagues during an intensive three-day program.

Preparations are nearly complete for the 2008 conference to be held July 9, 10 and 11, 2008 at UC Davis, and the Organizing Committee urges those interested to submit their registrations through this website as soon as possible. Registration for this meeting is limited to the first 200 individuals who complete online registration.

NEW!! Due to numerous requests, we are now offering single-day registration for $150. Please indicate on the registration form which day you will come. The poster session/wine tasting is included with Thursday, July 10 registration, and dinner is optional (please add the $50 dinner fee when registering).

This website offers information about the conference program, registration procedures, preparation and submission of abstracts, hotel accommodations in Davis, and an update on key dates and deadlines. We are convinced that this will be a very successful conference and are looking forward to seeing you at this special event at UC Davis.

The 1st annual NVRC, sponsored by the University of California, Davis College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, was held July 18-20, 2007, and you can read all the proceedings abstracts on this website. Photos from the 2007 conference are welcome and we will post submissions on the photo gallery. We envision that the NVRC will continue to offer this forum each year, with the location rotating among different academic centers of viticulture research.

Registration and payment are due June 20.
