KENWOOD VINEYARDS 2005 CABERNET SAUVIGNONS

In Cabernet Sauvignon, one size and style does not fit all. Just for that reason, Kenwood Vineyards produces several Cabernet Sauvignons, each with its own distinctive personality. The newly released 2005 Kenwood VineyardsKenwoodCABsAna.gif Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon and 2005 Kenwood Vineyards Jack London Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon may be very different, but each will gain plenty of fans for fine quality and impressive character.

INDIVIDUAL STYLES DISTINGUISH

An extraordinary wine to enjoy anytime, the medium-bodied and accessible Kenwood Vineyards Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon offers appealing style and uncommon value. To create the 2005 Kenwood Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon, Senior Winemaker Pat Henderson drew on carefully selected – for both generous fruit and elegant structure – vineyards in Sonoma Valley, Dry Creek Valley and Alexander Valley. Winemaking included 23 months aging in small French and American oak barrels to enhance complexity, and the addition of small percentages of Merlot and Cabernet Franc to enhance smoothness.

In contrast, Kenwood Vineyards Jack London Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is a single-vineyard wine that showcases intense fruit and classic structure. Produced entirely from grapes grown on the famed author’s Beauty Ranch, high in the western hills of the Sonoma Valley, this bold Cabernet Sauvignon – which Kenwood Vineyards has produced since 1977 – is a favorite among wine lovers who enjoy full-bodied, majestic, age-worthy reds. The 2005 Kenwood Jack London Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon spent a full two years in small French and American oak barrels – a percentage of which were new – to gain complexity in equal measure to its powerful character. To enhance fruit depth and structure, small amounts of Merlot and Syrah – also from Jack London Vineyard – were added to the final blend.
