Starbucks Experimenting With New Pricing Regime.

STARBUCKS200-w.gifThe Wall Street Journal reported that the global coffee chain will be testing USA $1.00 coffees and free refills in its Seattle-area cafes, in a bid to stave off competition from fast-food rivals.

Starbucks usually charges between USA: $1.50 to USA: $4.00 for a coffee, depending on size and flavor.

Earlier this year it was announced that Howard Schultz is returning to Starbucks as its CEO following its first drop in quarterly visits in the US.

The Journal reported that the USA: $1.00 coffees would undercut regular coffee prices at both McDonald's and Dunkin' Donuts.

There are around 15,000 Starbucks cafes around the world, with more than 10,000 in the US alone.
