Wine & Spirits Industry Forum (“WSIF”) has launched the first Social Network for the Wine and Spirits Industry, which enables industry professionals to make new contacts, market their products and services, develop new business opportunities and stay informed of industry news and events.

WSIF is a collaborative effort of industry and technology experts who plan to create a global community through business social networking. Membership is free, and open to anyone working in or providing services to the Wine and Spirits Industry.

Among the features provided by WSIF are the ability to complete a business profile and read the profiles of others; to send messages to other members and invite them to become contacts; to post commentary, pictures and videos; to list free classifieds and job openings; to create a group for members with common interests to blog; to use “VisualSpace” to identify members to meet; to read and post news and events; and many other features.

Today’s kids live on MySpace and Facebook, and understand the value of social networking” said Donna Prescott, CEO of WSIF. “Business people have begun to recognize the benefits of social networking to their work and careers, and WSIF wants to bring this valuable tool to the Wine & Spirits Industry.”

According to the Washington Post, 408 million people used social networks in 2006, and the market is growing at 35 percent per year.

Donna Prescott has brought together her backgrounds in wine and spirits and high technology to create WSIF. She was trained at London-based Wine and Spirit Education Trust, where she was awarded the Advanced Certificate and is pursuing the Diploma. She has run an industry focused marketing consultancy. Prior to entering the Wine and Spirits Industry, Prescott worked for several major high technology firms in Silicon Valley, near San Francisco.
