Blueberry Latest Addition to Smirnoff Line
With summer fast approaching, Diageo North America, (NA), is gearing up for the June launch of Smirnoff Blueberry, the 11th flavor extension of the Smirnoff brand. Diageo NA is promoting Smirnoff Blueberry as a refreshing addition to lemonades, Mojitos and Martinis.
“In the world of spirits, flavored vodkas are gaining in popularity with consumers,” said Smirnoff’s brand director, Kate Price. “With its sweet and tart texture, Blueberry raises our flavored portfolio to a whole new level.” Blueberry-flavored vodkas have been gaining traction with marketers. Last year, Pernod Ricard launched Stoli Blueberi and Luctor International recently unveiled its Van Gogh Acai-Blueberry-flavored vodka.
The new flavor joins Smirnoff other summer-friendly flavors, including Lime, Watermelon, Strawberry, Cranberry, Raspberry, Vanilla, Citrus, Orange, Green Apple and Black Cherry. All are available in 50-ml., 200-ml., 375-ml., 750-ml., 1-L. and 1.75-L. sizes. Each 750-ml. bottle retails for about $13.
At 8.9 million cases in 2006, a 9% uptick over 2005, Smirnoff is the best-selling vodka in the U.S. and the second-biggest spirits brand, behind Bacardi.
