BEAMGLOBAL-w.gifBeam Global Spirits & Wine, Inc. Commends the Work of The Century Council During Alcohol Awareness Month, An Organization Dedicated to Fighting Drunk Driving and Underage Drinking Launches Multiple Programs across the Country in April.

Beam Global Spirits & Wine, Inc. Fortune Brands, Inc., a global leader in premium spirits and wine, is pleased to support The Century Council in their launch of multiple programs throughout April, Alcohol Awareness Month. The Century Council, a not-for-profit funded by distillers and dedicated to fighting drunk driving and underage drinking, launched its second annual safe prom campaign using text messaging as a creative way to remind teens to make smart decisions and not to drink alcohol during prom night or throughout the year.

In addition to the safe prom program, The Century Council announced the launch of several programs throughout the country:

~ “Cops in Shops” was unveiled in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina on April 2, bringing law enforcement officials and retailers together in the fight against underage purchasing of alcohol for minors.

~ Representative Howard Coble (R-NC) and soccer player Siri Mullinix were in Greensboro, North Carolina to support the launch of the Century Council’s “Girl Talk”. The program was also launched in Nashua and Manchester, New Hampshire on April 13 with the support of Attorney General Kelly A. Ayotte. “Girl Talk” is a program for mothers and daughters to prevent underage drinking.

~ Representative Michael Ferguson (R-NJ) was in Skillman, New Jersey on April 12 to support the launch of “Ask, Listen, Learn,” a program that helps parents have effective conversations about alcohol with their kids.

~ Colorado Attorney General, John Suthers, joined The Century Council in Colorado Springs, Colorado on April 17 to continue the “We Don’t Serve Teens” campaign launched in Denver earlier this year. The “We Don’t Serve Teens” initiative informs adults that providing underage youth with alcohol is unsafe, illegal and irresponsible.

~ Speaking to local communities throughout the country, Brandon Silveria shares his tragic story of drunk driving and underage drinking with the “Brandon Tells His Story” program. This program was launched in Hilton Head, South Carolina on April 4, China Grove, North Carolina on April 16 and Fishers, Indiana on April 17. Indiana Attorney General, Steve Carter, joined Brandon and his father, Tony, in Fishers, Indiana where “Tony’s Tips” was also launched. Brandon shared his lifesaving story in Atlanta, Georgia on April 19 with the support of Georgia Attorney General Thurbert E. Baker. Finally, “Brandon Tells His Story” was also launched in Hamilton, New Jersey beginning April 23 with the help of New Jersey Attorney General Stuart Rabner.

“We are committed to supporting The Century Council in their work educating communities about the dangers of drunk driving and underage drinking,” stated Chris Swonger, senior vice president of corporate affairs, Beam Global Spirits & Wine. “The Century Council continues to share valuable programs for youth, parents and communities throughout the country. Beam Global is pleased to work with The Century Council and support programs that help start the dialog that parents should have with their kids.”
