Niman Ranch Beef Now Graded Choice or Prime
Niman Ranch turns over a new leaf in their beef program. As of March 20, the beef program is graded either Choice or Prime. Due to their ongoing commitment to only offer the highest quality options, Niman Ranch will not offer Select graded beef.
Yielding 37.5 Percent Prime Beef Average
“The opportunity to market our beef as graded was driven by our customers requesting graded programs,” said John Tarpoff, vice president beef. “Our cattle grade such remarkably high prime yield that we wanted to pass that advantage on to our customers, and ultimately to the end consumer.”
In the past, Niman Ranch has sold its beef as ungraded because the entire protocol has been geared toward producing the best-tasting meat regardless of grade. Niman Ranch will continue to stand for exceptional taste, quality and integrity, but will now make it more clear for customers to understand this commitment by grading the beef as either Prime or Choice.
In addition, Niman Ranch is the highest yielding Natural Prime producer in the country. According to the USDA, the average Prime yield for producers averages 1.6 percent; Niman Ranch averages 37.5 percent Prime.
