Follow up to France vs The Rest of The World
Last Saturday, February 03, 2007, at the French Embassy....
It was unanimous. The French Wine Society, hosting 250 wine enthusiasts at the Embassy of France, offered one of the most exciting wine competitions in Washington, DC. In the first three flights of wine, France won a clear victory and continued persevering through three close, nearly dead-even votes, in the end coming out an even tie with “The Rest of the World”.
Reactions were overwhelmingly positive in regard to the event, led by emotional, informational and acerbically witty wine professionals with 20+ years experience. The crowd cheered and hollered for their respective sides.
The “Rocky” theme music and the French and American national anthems blaring in the embassy helped add to the spectacle and turn the side-by-side blind tasting into a first-ever sporting event.
Pictures of the event will soon be available on the FWS website. For those who enjoyed the competition! , as well as all those who could not get a ticket for this sold-out event, the French Wine Society has scheduled another "France vs the Rest of the World" (June 30th) as well as a regional series: "Burgundy vs America" (March 21st) and "Bordeaux vs California" (June 30th). Tickets will sell fast, so do not wait!
Vive la France! [?]
