Third Annual Sonoma County Youth Pruning Contest February 3rd.

The Sonoma County Winegrape Commission is hosting the Third Annual Sonoma County Youth Grapevine Pruning Contest at 10 a.m. on February 3rd, 2007, at Santa Rosa Junior College's Shone Farm. left click image to enlarge:
Young contestants will be judged on skill, speed and safety. There are four age categories: ages 9 and under, ages 10-13, ages 14-15 and ages 16-19.


Individual and team prizes will be awarded. Refreshments will be served. The public is invited to attend.
Kids interested in competing should register by January 26th, 3007. Entry forms can be found at the Sonoma County Winegrape Commission Web site at www.sonomawinegrape.org, or by calling 707-522-5862 or 707-522-5861. Entries can be faxed to 707-522-5866–SEE “ENTRY FORM” & LINK BELOW.

Fourteen youth from Sonoma County enjoyed competing in 4 age divisions at the Second Annual Sonoma County Youth Grapevine Pruning Contest on January 21, 2006, at SRJC Shone Farm. Sonoma County Grape Growers Association (SCGGA), Russian River Valley Winegrowers, Alexander Valley Winegrowers, Sonoma Valley Vintners & Growers Alliance, Winegrowers of Dry Creek Valley, Richard’s Grove and Saralee’s Vineyard, Catie’s Corner Vineyard and Debbie & Kirk Lokka are proud to announce the winners:
2006 WINNERS:

The contest was judged on skill, speed and safety. The contest was open to all Sonoma County youth, including 4-H, FFA and High School Viticulture Students.
The above sponsors donated hats, bandannas, refreshments, plaques, silver belt buckles & ribbons. Bahco Pruning Tools donated pruning shears and loppers. The handcrafted silver belt buckles went to Kyle Clouse-Neles and Riggs Lokka, the highest point winners in the junior and senior divisions.
