WBW #28 Assignment--Sparklers! - UPDATED

Ok it’s bubbles time! The direction I headed out on for this one was straight to the heart of the Carneros. But like all great journeys the side trips, unexpected pop-ups and ok let’s do this one, too are inevitable.

First off I will have to do this one in instalments like over the next few day–hope I don’t drive Brenda, over Culinary Fool, or you the WBW #28 cru, to crazy with these... left click image to enlarge:

In the mix for this WBW# 28--here at the Avenue Vine:

1. Chandon Sparkling Wine Brut Classic - California = PARTY!
2. NV Chandon Sparkling Wine Blanc de Noirs - Carneros = PARTY!
3. 2002 Schramsberg Sparkling Wine Blanc de Blancs - California = PARTY!
4. NV Monticello Vineyards Sparkling Wine Montreaux Brut - Napa Valley = DUDs
5. NV Chandon Sparkling Wine Riche - California = PARTY!
6. NV Chandon Sparkling Wine Reserve Brut - Carneros = PARTY!

Note: these last three, sorry I just didn't get to 'em, but--stay tuned...

7. 1997 Gloria Ferrer Royal Cuvee - Carneros = Nope Didn't make this cut
8. 2000 Dom Carneros Sparkling Wine Le Reve - Carneros = Nope Didn't make this cut
9. 2003 Dom Carneros Sparkling Wine Brut - Carneros = Nope Didn't make this SPECIAL cut
10. - 20. Nor did the eight or ten we tasted on the 12th–doggone! :(

So right off the bat–first opened--a California Brut, there goes the “All Carneros Idea!”

Now whether we’ll get to all of these are reviewed is a horse of another vintage?...

DID, DONE!

Also, right out of the box, I was trying to figure out what my definition difference between “Party Sparklers and Special Sparklers?”..

WBW #28 PARAMETERS:
1. Bargain sparklers – that if you needed several bottles for a party wouldn’t break your budget but you wouldn’t be embarrassed to serve...

2. Special Sparklers – those bottles that might be a bit higher cost but for a little splurge you think they are worth the price...

3. Duds – you tried a bottle, thought it held promise but when it comes down to it you wouldn't buy it again. Hopefully we won't have many in this category!

CONSIDERATIONS:
Definition(s): a.> Sparklers are a party in a bottle!; b.> And well that just makes Sparklers Special... c.> And always hoping to no-not-never get a “Dud!”--GOT ONE, THOUGH!

CONCLUSION:
The wine, the learning about the processes, the philosophies and just the fun of comparing styles within a Domaine, and a State were great fun.

Gosh, I sure hope no one else posted their contributions to late for Brenda to get them into her write-ups!

Sorry for the wrong date on the fllier, folks. Ole’ Bren an' the rest must ah had more than a good laugh over that one...
